# How to check GST coding on vendor invoice records in Sage 300 before you lodge your BAS

In Sage 300, run the GST report by tax class and tax authority for the period. Review large bills, new suppliers and freight, fix wrong tax class and tax authority entries and check you hold a tax invoice for each credit.

A pre-BAS GST check means reviewing bills for wrong tax codes, missing tax invoices and suppliers not registered for GST before you claim credits.

## Before you start

- Australia Tax Reports installed
- System Manager, Tax Services, General Ledger

## The Sage 300 way

Where to find it: Common Services > Australia Tax Reports > Configurations / Business Activity Statement

1. Open Common Services > Australia Tax Reports > Configurations and map each BAS label (such as G1) to GL accounts or tax authorities.
2. Open Business Activity Statement and run it. You can adjust a label with the +/- field.
3. Print the BAS and generate the BAS audit file (JSON).

## Limits in Sage 300

- Maps by tax authority or GL account; it does not check each invoice line coding.

## Good to know in Sage 300

- Labels map to GL accounts or tax authority plus classes.

## The Pulsify way

1. Forward bills to Pulsify through the period.
2. Pulsify sets a GST code on each line from the rate printed on that line.
3. Pulsify flags a supplier ABN that is not registered for GST when GST is charged.
4. Review flags before approval, so fewer errors reach Sage 300.

Pulsify connects to Sage 300. We set up the connection for you.

What Pulsify does not do here:

- Pulsify does not lodge or prepare your BAS.
- It does not check bills already in Sage 300.

## Common mistakes

- Running the BAS before every label is mapped in Configurations.
- Expecting the BAS report to flag wrongly coded lines.

## Common questions

### Does Sage 300 produce a BAS?

Yes, with the separately installed Australia Tax Reports program. It maps BAS labels such as G1 to GL accounts or tax authorities and prints a BAS report and a BAS audit file for the ATO.

### What does it need?

System Manager, Tax Services and General Ledger. Open Common Services > Australia Tax Reports > Configurations to map the labels, then run Business Activity Statement.

### Does it check each invoice line?

No. It maps by tax authority or GL account. No line-level GST coding exception report was found, so check coding before you run it. You can adjust a label with the +/- field.

### Does Pulsify prepare my BAS?

No. It helps get bills coded correctly.
