# How to check GST coding on supplier invoice records in S/4HANA before you lodge your BAS

In S/4HANA, run the GST report by tax code for the period. Review large bills, new suppliers and freight, fix wrong tax code entries and check you hold a tax invoice for each credit.

A pre-BAS GST check means reviewing bills for wrong tax codes, missing tax invoices and suppliers not registered for GST before you claim credits.

## Before you start

- BAS report set up: ABN for the company code, G/L accounts assigned to BAS tax types, statutory reporting set up

## The S/4HANA way

Where to find it: Run Statutory Reports app, report AU_BAS_REP (Australia Business Activity Statement (BAS) Reporting)

1. Open Run Statutory Reports and pick AU_BAS_REP for the period.
2. Run Manage Tax Items first if you need to include or exclude tax items.
3. Choose New Run. The output is the BAS and the GST Calculation Sheet for BAS.
4. Check the lines and amounts for tax codes that look wrong, then edit and regenerate if needed.
5. Run Post Tax Payable to post the tax balances to the tax payable account.

## Limits in S/4HANA

- Tax codes are mapped to BAS tax boxes (for example G1, G10, G11) in configuration.
- Credit and debit memos must reference the original invoice so adjustments land in boxes G7 or G18.

## The Pulsify way

1. Forward bills to Pulsify through the period.
2. Pulsify sets a GST code on each line from the rate printed on that line.
3. Pulsify flags a supplier ABN that is not registered for GST when GST is charged.
4. Review flags before approval, so fewer errors reach S/4HANA.

Pulsify connects to S/4HANA. We set up the connection for you.

What Pulsify does not do here:

- Pulsify does not lodge or prepare your BAS.
- It does not check bills already in S/4HANA.

## Common mistakes

- Posting a credit memo without referencing the original invoice, so the adjustment misses boxes G7 or G18.
- Posting tax payable before checking the lines for wrong tax codes.

## Common questions

### Which SAP report prepares the BAS?

Check the lines and amounts for tax codes that look wrong, then edit and regenerate. Run Post Tax Payable to post the tax balances to the tax payable account.

### Why must credit memos reference the original invoice?
