# How to check GST coding on supplier invoice records in SYSPRO before you lodge your BAS

In SYSPRO, run the GST report by tax code for the period. Review large bills, new suppliers and freight, fix wrong tax code entries and check you hold a tax invoice for each credit.

A pre-BAS GST check means reviewing bills for wrong tax codes, missing tax invoices and suppliers not registered for GST before you claim credits.

## The SYSPRO way

Where to find it: Setup Options > Tax > Accounts Payable; AP Invoice Posting; AP Tax Distribution Report

1. Set the tax codes in Tax Code Setup and the Input tax control account (Setup Options > General Ledger Integration > Payables Ledger Codes).
2. Check the tax code on each GL Distribution line in AP Invoice Posting.
3. Run the AP Tax Distribution Report to see tax by tax code before the return.

## Limits in SYSPRO

- SYSPRO has no report that flags suspect GST coding. Tax on the reports differs from the return if you post with the Exclusive Tax window set to OK without changing amounts.

## The Pulsify way

1. Forward bills to Pulsify through the period.
2. Pulsify sets a GST code on each line from the rate printed on that line.
3. Pulsify flags a supplier ABN that is not registered for GST when GST is charged.
4. Review flags before approval, so fewer errors reach SYSPRO.

Pulsify connects to SYSPRO. We set up the connection for you.

What Pulsify does not do here:

- Pulsify does not lodge or prepare your BAS.
- It does not check bills already in SYSPRO.

## Common mistakes

- Posting through the Exclusive Tax window with OK when the tax amounts should have been changed.
- Not checking the tax code on each GL Distribution line in AP Invoice Posting.
