# How to code a bill with mixed GST lines in Sage Intacct

In Sage Intacct, set the tax detail on each line of the bill. Use the GST code for taxable lines and the GST-free code for others, then check the GST total matches the invoice.

A mixed GST bill has some lines with GST and some without, such as taxable goods plus GST-free items. Each line needs its own GST code.

## Before you start

- Accounts Payable subscription
- AP user role with permission to add and edit bills

## The Sage Intacct way

Where to find it: Accounts Payable application; tax set-up under the tax solution

1. Set up the Australia - GST standard tax solution and enable the entity (Taxes application).
2. Optionally set a Default tax schedule on the supplier record (Additional information tab, for VAT or GST tax solutions).
3. On the bill line choose the tax detail. Tick the RITC option on a line where only part of the GST is recoverable.
4. Check the tax total against the supplier invoice before posting.

## Limits in Sage Intacct

- Line-level tax needs the Australian tax solution to be turned on for the entity.

## Good to know in Sage Intacct

- RITC partial exemption is available for reduced input tax credits.

## The Pulsify way

1. Forward the supplier's invoice to your Pulsify address or upload it. Pulsify reads every line and finds the vendor in Sage Intacct.
2. Pulsify works out the GST rate for each line from what is printed and picks the matching tax detail in Sage Intacct.
3. Check any line where the invoice is unclear. Change the tax detail and approve.
4. The bill is created in Sage Intacct with the GST on each line.

Pulsify connects to Sage Intacct. We set up the connection for you.

What Pulsify does not do here:

- If the invoice does not show GST by line, Pulsify uses past bills for that vendor. Check those lines yourself.

## Common mistakes

- Posting without checking the tax total against the supplier invoice.
- Using one tax detail on a mixed invoice instead of choosing it line by line.

## Common questions

### Do I need to set up GST before I can code it?

Yes. Line-level tax needs the Australian tax solution turned on for the entity. Set up the Australia - GST standard tax solution and enable the entity in the Taxes application.

### What is the RITC tick for?

Tick the RITC option on a line where only part of the GST is recoverable. Intacct supports partial exemption for reduced input tax credits.

### Can the vendor have a default tax schedule?

Yes. You can set a Default tax schedule on the supplier record, on the Additional information tab, for VAT or GST tax solutions.

### Does Pulsify code GST by line?

Yes. Pulsify sets a GST code on each line from the rate printed on that line and matches it to a tax code in your ledger.
