# How to code an A/P invoice with mixed GST lines in SAP B1

In SAP B1, set the tax code on each line of the A/P invoice. Use the GST code for taxable lines and the GST-free code for others, then check the GST total matches the invoice.

A mixed GST bill has some lines with GST and some without, such as taxable goods plus GST-free items. Each line needs its own GST code.

## Before you start

- Tax codes set up

## The SAP B1 way

Where to find it: A/P Invoice rows: Tax Code. Setup: Administration > Setup > Financials > Tax > Tax Groups, Tax Code Determination

1. Pick a tax code on every row.
2. Use a zero rate tax code or tax group for GST-free rows.
3. Tax Code Determination rules can pick the code from conditions.

## Limits in SAP B1

- SAP provides predefined tax groups for supported localisations.
- Tax group names depend on your set up.

## The Pulsify way

1. Forward the supplier's invoice to your Pulsify address or upload it. Pulsify reads every line and finds the vendor in SAP B1.
2. Pulsify works out the GST rate for each line from what is printed and picks the matching tax code in SAP B1.
3. Check any line where the invoice is unclear. Change the tax code and approve.
4. The A/P invoice is created in SAP B1 with the GST on each line.

Pulsify connects to SAP B1. We set up the connection for you.

What Pulsify does not do here:

- If the invoice does not show GST by line, Pulsify uses past bills for that vendor. Check those lines yourself.

## Common mistakes

- Leaving the Tax Code blank on a row, so it takes the wrong default.
- Copying a code name from another company, when tax group names depend on how each company is set up.

## Common questions

### How do I show a GST-free row on an A/P invoice?

Pick a zero rate tax code or tax group on that row. SAP Business One has an Australia and New Zealand localisation with predefined tax groups, but the exact code names depend on your set up.

### Can SAP pick the tax code for me?

Tax Code Determination rules can choose the code from conditions you set. They live under Administration > Setup > Financials > Tax.

### Where do I set up the tax groups?

Under Administration > Setup > Financials > Tax, in Tax Groups and Tax Code Determination. The Australia and New Zealand setup guide covers them.

### Does Pulsify code GST by line?

Yes. Pulsify sets a GST code on each line from the rate printed on that line and matches it to a tax code in your ledger.
