# How to code a supplier invoice with mixed GST lines in S/4HANA

In S/4HANA, set the tax code on each line of the supplier invoice. Use the GST code for taxable lines and the GST-free code for others, then check the GST total matches the invoice.

A mixed GST bill has some lines with GST and some without, such as taxable goods plus GST-free items. Each line needs its own GST code.

## Before you start

- Australian tax codes set up for the company code

## The S/4HANA way

Where to find it: Manage Supplier Invoices (F0859) > G/L Account Items > Show Details

1. Add each G/L account item and choose Show Details.
2. Set the Tax Code on every item. Use a GST-free or input taxed code for those lines.
3. Choose Check to see the tax calculated, then Post.

## Limits in S/4HANA

- Tax code availability depends on your configuration.

## Good to know in S/4HANA

- SAP maps Australian purchase tax codes to BAS tax boxes. Examples: P1 non-capital purchases GST 10%, P2 non-capital GST exempt and free, C1 capital purchases GST 10%, C2 capital GST exempt and free, P8 imported supplies.

## The Pulsify way

1. Forward the supplier's invoice to your Pulsify address or upload it. Pulsify reads every line and finds the supplier in S/4HANA.
2. Pulsify works out the GST rate for each line from what is printed and picks the matching tax code in S/4HANA.
3. Check any line where the invoice is unclear. Change the tax code and approve.
4. The supplier invoice is created in S/4HANA with the GST on each line.

Pulsify connects to S/4HANA. We set up the connection for you.

What Pulsify does not do here:

- If the invoice does not show GST by line, Pulsify uses past bills for that supplier. Check those lines yourself.

## Example in S/4HANA

Example Fresh Foods sends a supplier invoice with cooking oil, fresh produce and a display fridge. Amounts are before GST.

- Cooking oil: $192.00 (Tax Code P1 (non-capital, GST 10%))
- Fresh produce: $120.00 (Tax Code P2 (non-capital, GST exempt and free))
- Display fridge: $2,500.00 (Tax Code C1 (capital, GST 10%))

Check shows GST of $269.20 on the oil and the fridge, and a gross total of $3,081.20. Your own tax codes may differ from these examples.

## Common mistakes

- Assuming P1 and C1 are your codes without checking, because tax code availability depends on your configuration.
- Posting without choosing Check, so the calculated tax is not looked at.

## Common questions

### Which tax codes does SAP use for GST?

Examples are P1 non-capital purchases GST 10%, P2 non-capital GST exempt and free, C1 capital purchases GST 10%, C2 capital GST exempt and free and P8 imported supplies. Your own codes may differ.

### Where do I set the tax code on a line?

Add each G/L account item and choose Show Details. Set the Tax Code on every item. Use a GST-free or input taxed code for lines without GST.

### How do I see the tax before posting?

Choose Check to see the tax calculated, then Post. Tax code availability depends on your configuration.

### Does Pulsify code GST by line?

Yes. Pulsify sets a GST code on each line from the rate printed on that line and matches it to a tax code in your ledger.
