# How to code one vendor invoice to several main account codes in Dynamics 365 Finance

In Dynamics 365 Finance, add a line for each type of cost on the vendor invoice. Set a different main account and sales tax code on each line, then check the total matches the invoice.

Coding one bill to several accounts means each line of a supplier invoice goes to the expense or asset account that matches what was bought.

## Before you start

- Accounts payable clerk

## The Dynamics 365 Finance way

Where to find it: Accounts payable > Invoices > Invoice journal

1. Add a line per account in the invoice journal.
2. Enter the vendor account as Account and the cost account as Offset account, or split the cost in the distributions.
3. Validate, then Post.

## Good to know in Dynamics 365 Finance

- Validate and Simulate posting can be run before you post.

## The Pulsify way

1. Forward the supplier's invoice to your Pulsify address or upload it. Pulsify reads every line and finds the vendor in Dynamics 365 Finance.
2. Pulsify suggests an account for each line from past bills for that vendor. Each line gets its own account and sales tax code.
3. Check the suggestions in Pulsify, change any that are wrong and approve.
4. The vendor invoice is created in Dynamics 365 Finance with the right account on every line.

Pulsify connects to Dynamics 365 Finance. We set up the connection for you.

What Pulsify does not do here:

- Pulsify can only pick from the accounts that exist in Dynamics 365 Finance.

## Common mistakes

- Posting without running Validate or Simulate posting first.
- Putting the cost account in the Account column. The vendor goes in Account and the cost account in Offset account.
