# How to import bill records from a CSV into AccountRight

In AccountRight, use the import template for bill records. Fill one row per line, keep the same invoice number on every line of a bill, test with a few rows, then import.

Importing bills from a CSV means loading many supplier bills into your accounting system from one spreadsheet instead of typing each one.

## Before you start

- Admin access

## The AccountRight way

Where to find it: File menu > Import/Export Assistant > Import data

1. Make a backup of the company file.
2. Save your purchases in a tab-delimited or comma-separated text file ending in .txt. Fields marked with an asterisk must be matched.
3. Go to File > Import/Export Assistant, select Import data and click Next, then choose the purchase type (Service, Item, Professional or Miscellaneous purchases).
4. Browse to the file, choose the file format and how to handle duplicate data, then match the fields.
5. Click Import and check the Import Log report for rejected records.
