# How to job cost A/P invoice records in SAP B1

In SAP B1, create each project, tag each A/P invoice line with the project using distribution rule, dimension and project and run a cost-by-project report each month.

Job costing supplier bills means tagging each bill line to a job so you can see cost against budget for every job.

## The SAP B1 way

Where to find it: Row project code on A/P Invoice

1. Set the project on each row.
2. Report from Project reports.

## The Pulsify way

1. Forward the supplier's invoice to Pulsify. Pulsify reads every row as its own line.

3. Route bills to the person who knows the job, using approval rules.
4. Approve. The A/P invoice is created in SAP B1 with each line.

Example Concrete Co sends one A/P invoice for $14,400 plus delivery $300. Two projects get concrete and share the delivery.

- Concrete, Project 101: $9,600.00 (Project: 101)
- Concrete, Project 102: $4,800.00 (Project: 102)
- Delivery, Project 101 share: $200.00 (Project: 101)
- Delivery, Project 102 share: $100.00 (Project: 102)

Project 101 shows $9,800 and Project 102 shows $4,900 as Invoiced (A/P) before GST.

## Common mistakes

- Setting the project in the header only and leaving the rows blank.
- Using the project code on some rows and not others, so the project reports miss costs.

### How do I tag an A/P invoice to a project?

Set the project code on each row of the A/P invoice. Rows linked to a project show as Invoiced (A/P) on the Project window.

### Can one invoice go to more than one project?

Yes, because the project is set on each row. Add a row for each project share.

### Do I need Project Management turned on?

Yes. Project management is listed as a need. The project reports then show what each project has been invoiced.

### Can Pulsify split by percentage?

No. Enter separate lines with set amounts.
