# How to put a disputed AP invoice on hold in Kinetic

In Kinetic, keep the AP invoice out of the payment group with a note on what is disputed and who is chasing. Tell the supplier in writing and record the AP debit memo when it arrives.

Putting a disputed bill on hold means stopping it from being paid while you sort out the problem with the supplier.

## The Kinetic way

Where to find it: AP Invoice Entry > Hold Invoice or Hold Payment; Posted Invoice Update to release

1. Tick Hold Invoice for a bill with a dispute or a price gap
2. Or tick Hold Payment for a bill that is fine but should not be paid yet
3. Both stop payment selection
4. To release, untick it in Posted Invoice Update

## Limits in Kinetic

- A supplier-level hold also blocks payments, so check both places if a bill will not pay
