# How to put a disputed purchase invoice on hold in Sage 50

In Sage 50, keep the purchase invoice out of the supplier payment run with a note on what is disputed and who is chasing. Tell the supplier in writing and record the purchase credit note when it arrives.

Putting a disputed bill on hold means stopping it from being paid while you sort out the problem with the supplier.

## Before you start

- Sage 50 Accounts (UK)

## The Sage 50 way

Where to find it: Suppliers > Batch invoice > Disputed? column

1. On the batch invoice choose a dispute reason in the Disputed? column.
2. Save. The invoice is marked disputed.

## The Pulsify way

1. Forward the invoice to Pulsify. It flags price and quantity differences against the PO and possible duplicates.
2. If you disagree with the bill, reject it with a reason. The reason is saved with the bill.
3. When the corrected invoice or credit note arrives, forward it and approve it.

Pulsify connects to Sage 50. We set up the connection for you.

What Pulsify does not do here:

- Pulsify does not have a dispute status or a hold on payment.
- Payment runs happen in Sage 50.

## Example in Sage 50

Example Pipe Supplies bills £3,300 including VAT for 100 fittings at £30. Your order says £27. The bookkeeper flags the line on the batch invoice.

- Batch invoice line: £3,300.00 (Disputed? column filled with a dispute reason)
- Price difference: £300.00 (The part in dispute)
- Purchase credit note when it arrives: -£300.00 (Recorded against the invoice)

The invoice is marked disputed after Save. Check the supplier payments screen before the next payment run to see how it treats the invoice.

## Common mistakes
