# How to set a default account for each supplier in MYOB Business

In MYOB Business, open the supplier record and set a default account and tax code. New bill lines will start with those and you can change any line.

A default account is the expense account a supplier's bills are coded to unless someone changes it. It saves time on repeat suppliers.

## Before you start

- Contacts access

## The MYOB Business way

Where to find it: Contacts menu > Create contact (or open the supplier from Contacts)

1. Open the supplier, or choose Create contact and set the Contact type to Supplier.
2. In Expense category, choose the category that purchases from this supplier usually go to.
3. Save. You can always choose a different account when you record a purchase.

## Limits in MYOB Business

- MYOB Business cannot yet set default supplier payment terms. You enter a Promised date on each purchase.
- The tax code on a bill comes from the item or account, not the supplier.

## The Pulsify way

1. Forward the supplier's invoice to your Pulsify address or upload it. Pulsify reads every line and finds the supplier in MYOB Business.
2. Pulsify suggests an account for each line from how that supplier was coded on past bills in MYOB Business.
3. Correct a suggestion when it is wrong. Later bills for that supplier follow the pattern.
4. Approve. The bill is created in MYOB Business.

Pulsify connects to MYOB in one click. Approved bills are created in MYOB with the source file attached.

What Pulsify does not do here:

- There is no setting in Pulsify to fix a default account for a supplier. It learns from past bills.
- A default set on the supplier in MYOB Business stays in MYOB Business.

## Common mistakes

- Expecting a default tax code to follow the supplier. It follows the item or account.
- Expecting payment terms to carry over from the supplier. Enter a Promised date each time.

## Common questions

### Where do I set a supplier's usual account in MYOB Business?

Open the supplier from Contacts and choose the Expense category. Save. You can always choose a different category when you record a purchase.

### Can I set default payment terms for a supplier?

Not yet. MYOB Business cannot set default supplier payment terms. You enter a Promised date on each purchase.

### Does the supplier set the tax code on a bill?

No. The tax code on a bill comes from the item or account, not the supplier.

### Does Pulsify let me set a default account?

Not as a setting. Pulsify learns each supplier's coding from past bills in your accounting system and suggests an account for every line.
