# How to set a price tolerance on purchase order matching in SYSPRO

In SYSPRO, decide how far a supplier invoice line may differ from the purchase order before a person must look at it. Set that limit where SYSPRO allows one and name who can pass a difference.

A price tolerance is the gap between the PO price and the invoice price that you accept without a query.

## The SYSPRO way

Where to find it: Setup Options > Configuration > Financial > Accounts Payable > GRN variance

1. Set Maximum permitted variance under GRN variance.
2. In AP Invoice Posting, the total Merch matched value of the selected GRN lines is compared with the invoice merchandise value (net of tax, freight and miscellaneous).
3. If the difference is larger than the maximum, SYSPRO warns that the acceptable variance is exceeded.
4. The warning can only be passed by an operator who has the password AP Entry of a GRN matching value exceeding allowed GRN variance, or the eSignature AP Override GRN variance.

## Limits in SYSPRO

- The help does not say whether Maximum permitted variance is a percent or a value.
- It compares the invoice to the GRN value, not to the supplier price list.
- Ignore rounding variance less than (%) is a separate setting for small price and exchange rate differences.

## Common mistakes

- Expecting the check to compare against a supplier price list. It compares the invoice with the GRN value.
- Using the variance limit for rounding gaps. Ignore rounding variance less than (%) is the separate setting for small price and exchange rate differences.

## Common questions

### Is the maximum permitted variance a percent or a value?

The help does not say. Check with your SYSPRO partner before you rely on it.

### Who can pass the variance warning?

An operator with the password AP Entry of a GRN matching value exceeding allowed GRN variance, or the eSignature AP Override GRN variance.

### What does SYSPRO compare?

The total Merch matched value of the selected GRN lines against the invoice merchandise value, net of tax, freight and miscellaneous. It does not use the supplier price list.

### Can I set a tolerance in Pulsify?

No. Pulsify matches to within 1 cent and shows any bigger difference as a flag. Your approver decides.
