# How to set up a new supplier safely in SYSPRO

Before the first bill, collect the supplier's ABN and bank details, check the ABN, phone to confirm, have a second person approve the supplier record in SYSPRO, then enter the first supplier invoice.

Setting up a new supplier safely means checking who they are and where the money goes before the first payment.

## The SYSPRO way

Where to find it: Program List > Accounts Payable > Setup > Suppliers

1. Add the supplier with branch, currency, invoice terms, ledger codes and tax.
2. Tick Supplier on hold until your checks are done.
3. Turn on Amendment journals required to log supplier additions.

## Limits in SYSPRO

- No ABN lookup or bank check is built in.

## Good to know in SYSPRO

- A supplier on hold is left out of automatic payment selection.
