# How to set up AP invoice approval in Kinetic

Kinetic has no core AP approval workflow. People enter invoices on hold in one security group and post them from another. Logged Invoice Entry is a pending-invoice option. ECM AP Automation adds routing.

Bill approval means a bill is checked and signed off by the right person before it is paid. A setup says who approves what.

## Before you start

- Epicor ECM AP Automation, custom Application Studio or BPM

## The Kinetic way

Where to find it: Logged AP Invoice Entry (optional pending invoice) plus Invoice hold flag and BPM

1. Optional: enter the bill in Logged Invoice Entry, a pending invoice that waits for management approval, then pull it into AP Invoice Entry
2. Or split duties: one security group enters invoices on hold and another group posts them
3. A BPM on the PrePostGroupInvoices method can block posting by the person who entered the group
4. Another option is to send posted journals to Review Journal so a second person approves
5. ECM AP Automation adds routing and approval with a CFO step above a threshold

## Limits in Kinetic

- Kinetic has no core AP approval workflow.
- Logged Invoice Entry does not take line items the same way

## The Pulsify way

1. Connect Kinetic to Pulsify. We set up the connection for you where needed.
2. Open Approvals. Every company starts with a default rule: any Admin or Approver can approve.
3. Add steps for amounts, suppliers or accounts. Choose a person, a role or a team as approver at each step.
4. Add a review step if someone should check coding before approval.
5. Use Try an invoice to test the rule on a real bill.
6. Add auto-approve rules for small or trusted bills if you want.

Pulsify connects to Kinetic. We set up the connection for you.

What Pulsify does not do here:

- Pulsify does not reassign an approval to someone else.
- Pulsify does not send approval reminders.

## Common mistakes

- Expecting built-in approval routing without ECM, Application Studio or a BPM.
- Letting the same person enter and post a group.

## Common questions

### Does Kinetic have an AP approval workflow?

Kinetic has no core AP approval workflow. Approval routing comes from Epicor ECM AP Automation, Application Studio or a BPM.

### What is Logged Invoice Entry?

Logged Invoice Entry holds a pending invoice that waits for management approval, then it is pulled into AP Invoice Entry.

### How can I separate entering from posting?

One security group enters invoices on hold and another posts them. A BPM on PrePostGroupInvoices can block posting by the person who entered the group.

### Does Pulsify support multi-step approvals?

Yes. You can set steps by amount, supplier or account. Approvers can be people, roles or teams. A review step is available.
