# Invoice fraud checks for Kinetic

Kinetic covers part of invoice fraud checks on its own. Pulsify flags changed bank details, an invalid or missing tax ID and emails that fail sender checks.

Invoice fraud checks look for fake invoices and changed bank details before money leaves your account.

## What Kinetic does on its own

Security and BPM.

## What you need in Kinetic

- Supplier Maintenance security
- BPM or Application Studio for alerts

## Setting it up in Kinetic

Where to find it: Supplier Maintenance > Bank / Remit To; BPM on VendBank

1. Restrict who can edit supplier bank details with security.
2. Set a BPM on VendBank that emails the finance director and sets the supplier inactive when bank fields change.
3. Check invoices in the queue, because Epicor copies the bank details onto the invoice when it is entered.
4. Run a BAQ to compare invoice bank with the current supplier bank.
5. Hold payment on a new supplier until verified.

## Good to know in Kinetic

- A new invoice keeps the old bank if the supplier changes bank after entry.
- One user's BPM caught edits but not first time bank adds until they used a different method trigger.
- Enter the ABN in the tax ID field with the Australia CSF. Check it in ABN Lookup outside Kinetic.

## What Pulsify adds

1. Pulsify compares the bank details on each invoice with the supplier's past invoices and your contact in Kinetic.
2. It checks the supplier ABN and flags one that is invalid or not registered for GST.
3. It flags a tax ID that differs from the supplier record or is missing.
4. If an email fails sender checks and the sender's domain enforces it, Pulsify holds the email and warns you.
5. Each document gets one signal in the queue: Needs fix, Check or Ready.

Pulsify connects to Kinetic. We set up the connection for you.

What Pulsify does not do:

- Flags are warnings. Call the supplier on a number you already have before paying new bank details.
- Pulsify never moves money.

## Common questions

### Can Kinetic alert me when a supplier bank account changes?

Yes, with a BPM on VendBank. It is custom work, not a standard setting.

### Why compare invoice bank to supplier bank?

Epicor copies the bank details onto the invoice at entry, so an old bank can stay on an invoice.

### Does Kinetic check the ABN?

The Epicor help describes no ABN check. Check it in ABN Lookup.

### What is the most common invoice fraud?

A fake email asking you to update a supplier's bank details. The next real invoice is then paid to the fraudster's account.
