# Line item coding for Sage Intacct

Sage Intacct has line item coding built in. Pulsify reads each line and suggests its GL account and tax detail from how that vendor was coded before.

Line item coding means giving every line on a supplier bill its own GL account, tax detail and tracking, not one code for the whole bill.

## What Sage Intacct does on its own

Each bill line takes a GL account, tax detail and dimensions.

## What you need in Sage Intacct

- Accounts Payable subscription
- Bills: List, View, Add permission
- Transaction allocations turned on in General Ledger for percentage splits

## Setting it up in Sage Intacct

Where to find it: Accounts Payable > All > Add next to Bills > Entries

1. In the Entries section add one line per cost.
2. Select the Account or Account label and enter the Amount.
3. Use Show defaults to set a default dimension for every line, then override single lines.
4. To split by percentage choose an Allocation template on the line.
5. Select Post, or Submit if bill approval is on.

## Good to know in Sage Intacct

- A Default expense account on the vendor record prefills the Account field. It is one account per vendor.
- Purchasing transactions only support percentage allocations.
- Posted bills can be reclassified one at a time, but amounts and line counts cannot change.

## What Pulsify adds

1. Pulsify reads each invoice into individual line items.
2. Each line gets its own account and its own tax code.
3. The account comes from how that supplier's past bills were coded. The tax code comes from the rate printed on the line.
4. You check every value on an editable review screen before approval.
5. Bulk edit sets the account and tracking on every line of one invoice, or on many invoices at once.

Pulsify connects to Sage Intacct. We set up the connection for you.

What Pulsify does not do:

- Pulsify aims for 99% accuracy on account and tax coding per line. You still review before approval.
- Splits are by line amount. There are no percentage splits.

## Common questions

### Can Sage Intacct split a bill line by percentage?

Yes, with transaction allocations. Create a definition under General Ledger > Allocations > Transaction allocations, then pick the Allocation template on the bill line. You can also just add lines with different Department or Location.

### Can I change the account on a posted bill?

One bill at a time. Turn on reclassification in Configure Accounts Payable, then select Edit then Reclassify. You can change the account and dimensions but not amounts. No bulk change tool was found.

### Do I need to set up coding rules?

No. Pulsify learns from how your team coded past invoices for each supplier. A coding note in the forwarding email is followed first.
