# Line item coding for SAP B1

SAP B1 has line item coding built in. Pulsify reads each line and suggests its G/L account and tax code from how that vendor was coded before.

Line item coding means giving every line on a supplier bill its own G/L account, tax code and tracking, not one code for the whole bill.

## What SAP B1 does on its own

Each row of an A/P invoice carries its own G/L account for service type invoices. Distribution rules and projects can be set on each row. There is no default expense account on the business partner, so the account is picked on every service row.

## What you need in SAP B1

- Purchasing A/P authorisation
- Service type document for G/L lines

## What Pulsify adds

1. Pulsify reads each invoice into individual line items.
2. Each line gets its own account and its own tax code.
3. The account comes from how that supplier's past bills were coded. The tax code comes from the rate printed on the line.
4. You check every value on an editable review screen before approval.
5. Bulk edit sets the account and tracking on every line of one invoice, or on many invoices at once.

Pulsify connects to SAP B1. We set up the connection for you.

What Pulsify does not do:

- Pulsify aims for 99% accuracy on account and tax coding per line. You still review before approval.
- Splits are by line amount. There are no percentage splits.

## Common questions

### Can I split a Business One invoice over several G/L accounts?

Yes. Use a service type A/P invoice and add one row for each account. Each row has its own amount and tax code.

### Does Business One fill in the expense account for a vendor?

No. The SAP help shows no default expense account on the business partner, so pick the G/L account on each service row.

### How do I fix a wrong account on a posted invoice?

Posted A/P invoices are legally binding. Cancel the invoice or credit it and enter it again.

### Do I need to set up coding rules?

No. Pulsify learns from how your team coded past invoices for each supplier. A coding note in the forwarding email is followed first.
