A mixed GST bill has some lines with GST and some without, such as taxable goods plus GST-free items. Each line needs its own GST code.
Before you start
- Tax set-up created with the AU option
The Acumatica way
Where to find it: Bills and Adjustments (AP301000) > Details tab and Taxes tab
- On each line pick the Tax Category (for example DEFAULT, GSTFREE, CAPPURCH or NOGSTNOCAP).
- Set the vendor's tax zone (DOMESTIC for GST suppliers).
- Check the Taxes tab for the tax per code.
- Release the bill.
Limits in Acumatica
- If the supplier's invoice shows a different tax amount, you adjust it through tax adjustments or use Validate Tax Totals on Entry. That option needs the Net/Gross Entry Mode feature.
Good to know in Acumatica
- Each tax category maps to a BAS box, for example capital purchases go to G10 and purchases with no GST in the price go to G14.
- MYOB asks you not to change Report Lines and Report Groups unless MYOB tells you to.
Words Acumatica uses
- Tax category. A group on an item or line that decides which tax codes apply, for example GST-free or capital purchase.
The Pulsify way
- Forward the supplier's invoice to your Pulsify address or upload it. Pulsify reads every line and finds the vendor in Acumatica.
- Pulsify works out the GST rate for each line from what is printed and picks the matching tax category in Acumatica.
- Check any line where the invoice is unclear. Change the tax category and approve.
- The AP bill is created in Acumatica with the GST on each line.
Pulsify connects to Acumatica. We set up the connection for you.
What Pulsify does not do here
- If the invoice does not show GST by line, Pulsify uses past bills for that vendor. Check those lines yourself.
Common mistakes
- Using the wrong Tax Category for a capital purchase, so it reports in the wrong BAS box.
- Changing Report Lines and Report Groups. MYOB asks you not to unless MYOB tells you to.
