Dext or Hubdoc? Both capture. Neither finishes the job.

Dext extracts more than Hubdoc. But whichever you pick, you are still coding lines, checking GST, and chasing approvals by email.

Pulsify does the whole run.

*Dext base plan is $33/month. $103/month covers 100 documents with line-item extraction, the like-for-like match to Pulsify's $69 Get Control plan.

Hubdoc is bundled with most Xero plans, so on price alone nothing beats it. The question is what you are still doing by hand after it runs.

What happens after capture

1

AI codes every line as it reads it

Upload or email an invoice and Pulsify extracts every line item and assigns the account code, GST treatment, and cost centre in the same pass, from your supplier history. Not just the amounts, the full coding, on every plan.

2

Bank details and ABNs validated automatically

BSBs and account numbers are checked against historical records. ABNs are verified against the Australian Business Register, so you do not claim input credits you are not entitled to. Duplicates are caught before approval.

And when you need them

Most teams start with coding and GST. The controls are there when the business grows into them.

3

Invoices matched to their purchase order

Lines are matched back to the PO before anyone approves anything. Overbilling, quantity drift, and price creep get flagged rather than paid.

4

Approvals routed by vendor or amount

Sequential, parallel, and conditional routing with no cap on steps. Approvers see a fully coded, validated invoice. We do not charge per user, so adding people costs nothing.

Why teams outgrow capture tools

Pulsify saves hours each week by auto-coding line items and flagging issues like duplicates, GST errors, and mismatches before bills hit the ledger.

Justin Tomas

Indiana Advisory

I need this for import and shipping costs which have all sorts of GST, non-GST, part GST requirements, so Pulsify solves the complications of finding this and breaking it down at the end of each quarter for the accountant. Having previously used Dext, getting this detail was an extra expense and assigning costs was much more work.

Frequently asked questions

Dext vs Hubdoc: which one should I choose?
Hubdoc is included with most Xero plans and suits low volumes of simple, single-account bills. Dext costs more but extracts more, handles higher volumes and messier suppliers, and is the usual next step once Hubdoc stops keeping up. If you are still coding lines and chasing approvals after either one runs, the choice between them is not the thing holding you up.
What do Dext and Hubdoc both leave you to do?
Neither tool codes GST line by line, matches an invoice to a purchase order, validates supplier bank details or ABNs, or routes an invoice for approval. They move documents from your inbox into Xero or MYOB. Everything after that is still manual.
Does Dext code invoice line items?
Dext's line-item extraction is a paid add-on that consumes credits, and it extracts amounts rather than account and tax codes. Hubdoc does not extract line items at all, it reads the header. Pulsify codes every line, including per-line GST, on every plan, using your existing chart of accounts.
Is Pulsify more expensive than Dext or Hubdoc?
Hubdoc is free with most Xero plans, so nothing beats it on price. Pulsify starts at $69/month; Dext is $33/month for the base plan, or around $103/month once you add line-item extraction for 100 documents. Pulsify charges per document, not per user, so adding people costs nothing.
Can I switch from Dext or Hubdoc to Pulsify?
Yes. Pulsify connects directly to Xero and MYOB, imports your coding history, and works from the first invoice. Most teams switch in about a day without rebuilding rules or their chart of accounts.
