A bank detail change is when a supplier asks you to pay a new sort code or account number. It is a common fraud route.
The Sage 50 way
Where to find it: Tools > Event Log
- Go to Tools > Event Log and change the settings so it records more events (not retrospective).
Limits in Sage 50
- Without the Event Log, Sage 50 keeps no history of bank detail changes, only a record modified date.
- The Event Log records the event, user, computer and time. It does not list the old and new bank values.
- Role control: use user access rights to limit who can edit supplier records.
The Pulsify way
- Forward the supplier's invoice to Pulsify.
- Pulsify compares the bank details on the invoice with the supplier record in Sage 50.
- If they differ, Pulsify flags it with the system value.
- Verify with the supplier by phone before you approve.
Pulsify connects to Sage 50. We set up the connection for you.
What Pulsify does not do here
- Pulsify flags a mismatch. It does not decide whether the new details are real.
- It cannot verify details a supplier has never had in Sage 50.
Common mistakes
- Turning on the Event Log and expecting it to show past changes, since it is not retrospective.
- Expecting the Event Log to show the old and new bank details.
