Applying a supplier credit note means recording the credit and allocating it against the bill it reduces, so you pay only the balance.
Before you start
- Sage 50 Accounts (UK)
The Sage 50 way
Where to find it: Suppliers > Batch credit
- Go to Suppliers and select Batch credit.
- Enter A/C, Date, Due on, Credit No, Ex.Ref, N/C (supplier default fills in), Dept, net value and tax code.
- Check the batch totals and Save.
- Allocate the credit to the invoice (in Supplier payment or the allocate screen) so it clears the invoice.
Limits in Sage 50
- A credit only clears an invoice once allocated.
The Pulsify way
- Forward the supplier's credit note to your Pulsify address. Pulsify recognises it as a credit note.
- Pulsify flags a credit note with a missing or unknown original invoice, or an original smaller than the credit.
- Choose the original bill and approve.
- Pulsify creates the credit note in Sage 50 against the original bill.
Pulsify connects to Sage 50. We set up the connection for you.
What Pulsify does not do here
- Pulsify does not handle partial allocation across several bills.
- Credit note handling is limited to the cases listed above.
Common mistakes
- Saving the credit without allocating it, so the invoice stays open.
- Leaving the supplier's default N/C on a credit that relates to a different cost.
