Putting a disputed bill on hold means stopping it from being paid while you sort out the problem with the supplier.
The Sage 100 Contractor way
Where to find it: 4-2 Payable Invoices/Credits > Status
- Open the invoice in 4-2 Payable Invoices/Credits and set the Status to 3-Dispute (or 2-Review).
- Move it back to Open when the dispute is settled.
What to watch in Sage 100 Contractor
- Status sits on the invoice in 4-2 Payable Invoices/Credits. The two statuses the Sage help names are 2-Review and 3-Dispute.
- The help does not describe how a status affects payment selection in 4-3. Test it on one invoice before you rely on it to hold a payment.
- Move the invoice back to Open when the dispute is settled. Leaving it on Dispute is the most common slip.
- This guide applies to the US edition of Sage 100 Contractor. Amounts here are in dollars.
The Pulsify way
- Forward the invoice to Pulsify. It flags price and quantity differences against the PO and possible duplicates.
- If you disagree with the bill, reject it with a reason. The reason is saved with the bill.
- When the corrected invoice or credit note arrives, forward it and approve it.

Example in Sage 100 Contractor
Example Electrical Wholesale bills $5,500 for switchboard parts. The job supervisor says one item was never delivered. The AP clerk opens the invoice in 4-2 Payable Invoices/Credits and changes the Status.
| Line | Amount | Tagged to |
|---|---|---|
| Payable invoice from Example Electrical Wholesale | $5,500.00 | Status set to 3-Dispute |
| Item not delivered | $800.00 | The disputed part |
| Payable credit when it arrives | -$800.00 | Status back to Open, then pay |
The invoice carries the dispute status until the credit arrives. Then the clerk moves it back to Open and pays the $4,700 balance.
