A supplier price check compares the unit price on each bill line with the price you agreed, so overcharges are caught before you pay.
What Sage 50 does on its own
Sage 50 Accounts has no check of an invoice price against an agreed supplier price or a price list. Stock records hold a price, but nothing compares a supplier bill to it. The check is done by eye when you key the invoice.
- No supplier price list or price variance check found.
Setting it up in Sage 50
- Print or open the purchase order that holds the agreed price.
- Go to Suppliers and select Batch invoice.
- Key the invoice lines and compare each net amount to the order line.
- Query any line that is higher than the order with the supplier before you save.
- Mark the invoice as disputed with a reason in the Disputed? column if you hold it back.
Good to know in Sage 50
- The Batch invoice window has a Disputed? column where you can note a reason.
- No supplier price list or price variance report was found in the Sage 50 help or community posts read.
What Pulsify adds
- Upload the prices you agreed with a supplier as a CSV. One price list per supplier, up to 100,000 items.
- Pulsify checks the unit price on every line of that supplier's bills against the list, by item code then exact description.
- Lines priced differently or not on the list are flagged.
- If a bill is matched to a purchase order, line prices are checked against the PO too.
- The approver sees the flag and decides.
Pulsify connects to Sage 50. We set up the connection for you. More about supplier price checks in Pulsify.
What Pulsify does not do
- There is no tolerance. Any difference is flagged.
- Pulsify does not track rebates or price history.

Common questions
Does Sage 50 warn me when a supplier charges more than the order?
No warning was found. Sage 50 Accounts has no price tolerance or price list check on supplier invoices. You compare the invoice to the order yourself.
Can I hold a supplier invoice that looks wrong in Sage 50?
Yes. The Batch invoice window has a Disputed? column where you give a reason. It marks the invoice as disputed. It does not compare prices for you.
Is there a report of price changes by supplier in Sage 50?
No price variance report was found. You can see supplier activity and Aged Creditors, but neither compares prices over time.
How do I update a price list?
Upload the new CSV. It replaces the old list and open bills are checked again the next time they are opened.
