A supplier credit invoice reduces what you owe a vendor, usually for returns, short deliveries or a pricing error.
What Sage 300 CRE does on its own
A supplier credit is entered as an invoice with a negative amount. It is then picked in Select Invoices to Pay with the invoices it offsets. The check net must be zero or more, so no check prints if the net is negative.
- Net check cannot be negative.
- There is no separate credit note document type. A credit is an invoice with a negative amount.

Common questions
How do I record a supplier credit note in Sage 300 CRE?
Enter it as an invoice with a negative amount using the job, cost code and account lines. Then select it with the invoices it offsets in Select Invoices to Pay.
Why won't a check print when I include a credit?
The check net must be zero or more. If the credit is bigger than the invoices selected, no check prints.
Can I use only part of a credit?
Yes. Use Partial in Select Invoices to Pay. Turn off the vendor One Invoice per Payment setting first.
Should a credit note go through approval?
Yes. It changes what you owe. The person who agreed the return or price fix is often the right approver.
