A supplier price check compares the unit price on each bill line with the price you agreed, so overcharges are caught before you pay.
What S/4HANA does on its own
Price checking happens through the match tolerances. The system compares the invoiced price with the PO price and blocks the invoice for payment when the gap is outside the price variance limits. Agreed prices can be held on contracts or info records and flow into the PO.
What you need in S/4HANA
- Configuration access to set the price variance tolerance
- Contracts or info records to hold agreed prices
Setting it up in S/4HANA
Where to find it: Customizing for Logistics Invoice Verification: tolerance limits
- Hold the agreed price on a contract or info record.
- The PO takes the price from it.
- In Customizing for Logistics Invoice Verification open the tolerance limits.
- Set the price variance limits, lower and upper, as an absolute value or a percentage.
- When an invoice is outside the upper limit it posts but is blocked for payment.
Good to know in S/4HANA
- Tolerances are set by an administrator, not by AP users.
- Exceeding other limits can give a warning instead of a block.
- Set Do not check to stop a check. Set the upper limits to zero with Check limit to always block.
How to do it in S/4HANA
How to set a price tolerance on purchase order matching in S/4HANA
In S/4HANA, decide how far a supplier invoice line may differ from the purchase order before a person must look at it. Set that limit where S/4HANA allows one and name who can pass a difference.
What Pulsify adds
- Upload the prices you agreed with a supplier as a CSV. One price list per supplier, up to 100,000 items.
- Pulsify checks the unit price on every line of that supplier's bills against the list, by item code then exact description.
- Lines priced differently or not on the list are flagged.
- If a bill is matched to a purchase order, line prices are checked against the PO too.
- The approver sees the flag and decides.

What Pulsify does not do
- There is no tolerance. Any difference is flagged.
- Pulsify does not track rebates or price history.

Common questions
Can S/4HANA block an invoice that is dearer than the PO?
Yes. When the invoice price is outside the price variance limit, the invoice posts but is blocked for payment. Someone then releases it or has the supplier correct it.
Does S/4HANA check against a supplier price list?
It checks against the PO price. Agreed prices held on contracts or info records feed the PO, so they reach the check that way.
How many limits can I set?
The help describes up to four limits for each variance: lower and upper, each as an absolute value or a percentage.
How do I update a price list?
Upload the new CSV. It replaces the old list and open bills are checked again the next time they are opened.
