A pre-BAS GST check means reviewing bills for wrong tax codes, missing tax invoices and suppliers not registered for GST before you claim credits.
Before you start
- BAS report set up: ABN for the company code, G/L accounts assigned to BAS tax types, statutory reporting set up
The S/4HANA way
Where to find it: Run Statutory Reports app, report AU_BAS_REP (Australia Business Activity Statement (BAS) Reporting)
- Open Run Statutory Reports and pick AU_BAS_REP for the period.
- Run Manage Tax Items first if you need to include or exclude tax items.
- Choose New Run. The output is the BAS and the GST Calculation Sheet for BAS.
- Check the lines and amounts for tax codes that look wrong, then edit and regenerate if needed.
- Run Post Tax Payable to post the tax balances to the tax payable account.
Limits in S/4HANA
- Tax codes are mapped to BAS tax boxes (for example G1, G10, G11) in configuration.
- Credit and debit memos must reference the original invoice so adjustments land in boxes G7 or G18.
The Pulsify way
- Forward bills to Pulsify through the period.
- Pulsify sets a GST code on each line from the rate printed on that line.
- Pulsify flags a supplier ABN that is not registered for GST when GST is charged.
- Review flags before approval, so fewer errors reach S/4HANA.
Pulsify connects to S/4HANA. We set up the connection for you.
What Pulsify does not do here
- Pulsify does not lodge or prepare your BAS.
- It does not check bills already in S/4HANA.
Common mistakes
- Posting a credit memo without referencing the original invoice, so the adjustment misses boxes G7 or G18.
- Posting tax payable before checking the lines for wrong tax codes.
