How to close the month in accounts payable in S/4HANA

Short answer

In S/4HANA, enter and approve all supplier invoice records dated in the month, accrue goods received, reconcile the aged items to the ledger, then lock the period.

Where to find it: Manage Posting Periods (Fiori app)

  1. Clear parked and blocked invoices.
  2. Reconcile A/P to the G/L.
  3. Open Manage Posting Periods, pick the posting period variant and set the periods open or closed.
  4. Check the change log if needed.

Limits in S/4HANA

  • Authorisation groups can limit who posts into a period.
  • The app can run scheduled jobs to open or close periods.
