A pre-BAS GST check means reviewing bills for wrong tax codes, missing tax invoices and suppliers not registered for GST before you claim credits.
Before you start
- Australia tax codes
- Tax Reporting Framework
The NetSuite way
Where to find it: Setup > Company > Business Activity Statement; Reports > Tax
- Check every bill line has a valid Australian tax code.
- Look for UNDEF-AU.
- Run the tax detail report.
- Run the BAS report and check boxes G10, G11 and 1B.
Limits in NetSuite
- BAS needs SuiteTax Country Tax Reports APAC SuiteApp on SuiteTax accounts.
Words NetSuite uses
- Tax code. A code on each line that sets the GST rate and which BAS boxes it feeds.
The Pulsify way
- Forward bills to Pulsify through the period.
- Pulsify sets a GST code on each line from the rate printed on that line.
- Pulsify flags a supplier ABN that is not registered for GST when GST is charged.
- Review flags before approval, so fewer errors reach NetSuite.
Pulsify connects to NetSuite. We set up the connection for you.
What Pulsify does not do here
- Pulsify does not lodge or prepare your BAS.
- It does not check bills already in NetSuite.
Common mistakes
- Skipping the UNDEF-AU check and lodging with lines that have no proper code.
- Running the BAS report on a SuiteTax account without the Country Tax Reports APAC SuiteApp.
