The Taxable payments annual report (TPAR) tells the ATO what you paid contractors in certain industries during the financial year.
Before you start
- ANZ Localization SuiteApp
- Payer details on company or subsidiary
- Vendor ABN and TPAR setting
The NetSuite way
Where to find it: Setup > ANZ Localization > Enable ANZ Features
- Install ANZ Localization.
- Tick Taxable Payments Annual Report and fill in payer details.
- Mark the relevant vendors and set their ABN.
- Run the Taxable Payments Annual Report for the financial year.
- Review and lodge with the ATO.
- Fill the Payer Details on the company or subsidiary record: ABN, Branch Number (001 if none), Legal Name, Address, Phone, Contact Name and Contact Email.
- On each contractor go to Lists > Relationships > Vendors, choose Edit and on the AUS Reporting subtab tick TPAR Eligible. Enter the 11-digit ABN on the Financial subtab.
- For old bills, tick Include in TPAR on each one or use Mass Update.
- On the Country Tax Reports page (Reports > Tax > Country Tax Reports) generate the report and click a payee's Total GST or Gross amount paid to open the summary.
Limits in NetSuite
- Filing with the ATO is done outside NetSuite.
- A vendor who gives a new ABN needs a new vendor record. Bills with the new ABN report under a separate payee.
- The ANZ SuiteApp does not support multi-book accounting and does not move over existing TPAR setup.
Good to know in NetSuite
- Oracle also says accounts without SuiteTax can only generate certain reports. Check yours.
- The AUS Reporting subtab shows for OneWorld vendors only when at least one subsidiary is in Australia.
- On a SuiteTax account the ABN is taken from the Tax Registrations tab and one registration number must cover the whole reporting period.
- You can clear Include next to a bill payment on the summary report, which also clears Include in TPAR on that transaction.
- Existing bills of a newly eligible vendor are not reported automatically.
- Vendor category lets you mark Government Entity or Government Exempt.
Words NetSuite uses
- Subsidiary. A separate legal entity inside one OneWorld account.
Common mistakes
- Running the report before the payer details are filled in on the company or subsidiary.
- Not marking the relevant vendors and setting their ABN before you run the report.
