A pre-BAS GST check means reviewing bills for wrong tax codes, missing tax invoices and suppliers not registered for GST before you claim credits.
Before you start
- Accounts Payable subscription
- AP user role with permission to add and edit bills
The Sage Intacct way
Where to find it: Accounts Payable application
- Run the tax reports for the period.
- Use Prepare tax data on Taxes > Submit taxes to send data to Sage Regulatory Reporting.
- Select Create tax return, review and edit the BAS boxes in Regulatory Reporting.
- Generate the BAS PDF. Included transactions are then locked.
- Lodge with the ATO and mark the tax submission as filed.
Limits in Sage Intacct
- BAS reporting depends on Sage Regulatory Reporting.
Good to know in Sage Intacct
- Tax records can be locked for a period.
The Pulsify way
- Forward bills to Pulsify through the period.
- Pulsify sets a GST code on each line from the rate printed on that line.
- Pulsify flags a supplier ABN that is not registered for GST when GST is charged.
- Review flags before approval, so fewer errors reach Sage Intacct.
Pulsify connects to Sage Intacct. We set up the connection for you.
What Pulsify does not do here
- Pulsify does not lodge or prepare your BAS.
- It does not check bills already in Sage Intacct.
Common mistakes
- Generating the BAS PDF before reviewing the BAS boxes, since it locks the transactions.
- Relying on a coding exception report that the help does not describe.

Common questions
How does the BAS get from Intacct to the ATO?

Do transactions lock after the BAS?
Yes. Included transactions are locked when you generate the BAS PDF.
Is there a report for wrong GST coding?
