Splitting a bill across jobs or cost centres means giving each line of one supplier invoice its own job, department or project so costs land where they belong. In Sage 300 CRE you do it with job, cost code and cost type.
The Sage 300 CRE way
Where to find it: Accounts Payable > Enter Invoices > distribution lines
- Add a distribution line for each job and cost code.
- Enter the amount per line.
Limits in Sage 300 CRE
- Split is by lines.
The Pulsify way
- Forward the supplier's invoice to your Pulsify address. Pulsify reads every row as its own line.
- Review each line and set its account. Line-item coding learns from how that vendor was coded before.
- Approve. The invoice is created in Sage 300 CRE with one line per row.

What Pulsify does not do here
- Pulsify does not split a line by percentage. A shared cost needs separate lines with set amounts.
- Tagging a line to job, cost code and cost type is done in Sage 300 CRE unless the line already carries it.
Example in Sage 300 CRE
Example Timber Supplies sends one invoice for two jobs. Total $4,400. The $400 delivery fee is shared evenly, so it goes on two distribution lines.
| Line | Amount | Tagged to |
|---|---|---|
| Framing timber, Example Job 101 | $2,200.00 | Job: Example Job 101, cost code Framing, cost type Material |
| Framing timber, Example Job 102 | $1,400.00 | Job: Example Job 102, cost code Framing, cost type Material |
| Delivery, Example Job 101 share | $200.00 | Job: Example Job 101, cost code Freight |
| Delivery, Example Job 102 share | $200.00 | Job: Example Job 102, cost code Freight |
The four distribution lines add up to $4,400.00, the invoice total. Example Job 101 carries $2,400 and Example Job 102 carries $1,600.
Common mistakes
- Putting the whole amount on one job when the invoice covers two or more jobs.
- Giving two lines the same cost code when the cost belongs to different codes.

Common questions
Can I split an invoice by percentage in Sage 300 CRE?
Sage 300 CRE splits by distribution lines, each with its own amount. The Sage help describes no percentage allocation tool, so work out each share in dollars before you key the lines.
Is a split one line per job or per cost code?
Add a distribution line for each job and cost code, then enter the amount for that line. A job with two cost codes needs two lines.
Do I enter cost type on each line?
Partner guides describe job, cost code and cost type on each distribution line. Check the line amounts add up to the invoice total before you save.
