Why it matters for builders
- If a subcontractor does not quote an ABN on a business invoice, you generally must withhold tax at the top rate from the payment unless an exception applies. That is a cash and compliance risk on every new trade.
- Businesses with 50% or more income from building and construction services must lodge a TPAR, so subcontractor details have to be accurate through the year.
For builders in MYOB Acumatica
- Limit who can edit vendors by role, so only trusted staff can change a vendor's bank details.
- Audit History shows who changed a screen. Check it when a vendor's details change before a claim is paid.
- The Approvals tab on a bill shows who was assigned, who approved and when. Use it to check that a claim was approved by the right person.
- The Payment Schedule keeps a record of the claimed amount, the scheduled amount and the Reason for each claim.
- Phone the vendor on a known number before you pay to changed bank details.
Rules that matter for builders in MYOB Acumatica
- The ABN sits in TPAR Settings on the vendor and is used for the TPAR only. There is no ABN lookup, so check each new trade on ABN Lookup yourself.
- A trade with no ABN on the claim means you generally withhold 47% unless an exception applies. Settle this before the claim is approved.
- A payment schedule in NSW is due within 10 business days of the claim. Record the Reason on the Payment Schedule for any amount you do not pay.
What MYOB Acumatica does on its own

- MYOB Acumatica has no bank detail change alert and no ABN lookup.

Example
An email asks to change the bank account for Example Plastering Pty Ltd the day before a $19,800 claim (including GST) is due. The vendor was last edited three months ago.
| Line | Amount | What the check finds |
|---|---|---|
| Vendor record edited, bank details changed | Only roles that can edit vendors could do this. Audit History shows who and when | |
| Progress claim 2, Approvals tab | $18,000.00 | Shows who was assigned and who approved |
| Payment Schedule entry for the claim | $18,000.00 | Keeps the claimed amount, the scheduled amount and the Reason |
MYOB Acumatica raises no alert on the bank change. The accounts clerk finds it in Audit History, phones the number already on file and holds Prepare Payments for that claim until the call is done.

Does MYOB Acumatica alert me when a vendor's bank details change?
No. Use roles to limit who can edit vendors, check Audit History for changes and call the vendor on a known number before paying to a changed account.
