Job costing supplier bills means tagging each bill line to a job so you can see cost against budget for every job.
Before you start
- Project dimension turned on in General Ledger (Basic Project Tracking)
- Projects subscription for Project Costing
- Construction subscription for cost types
The Sage Intacct way
Where to find it: General Ledger > Setup > Configuration > Dimension Settings
- Go to General Ledger > Setup > Configuration. Under Dimension Settings find Project, select Enable and save.
- Create the project record and give it a project ID.
- Tag each bill line with the project.
- Report cost by project. Project Costing adds tasks and Construction adds cost types.
Limits in Sage Intacct
- Basic Project Tracking tags bills with a project ID for reporting. Tasks and full project costs need Project Costing.
- Cost types are part of Construction.
Good to know in Sage Intacct
- Basic Project Tracking is also called the Project dimension. Projects can sit in parent and child groups up to 5 levels deep.
Words Sage Intacct uses
- Dimension. A tag on a transaction line, such as department, location, project or class. You report by any mix of them.
The Pulsify way
- Forward the supplier's invoice to Pulsify. Pulsify reads every row as its own line.
- Review each line's account and set the job where it applies.
- Route bills to the person who knows the job, using approval rules.
- Approve. The bill is created in Sage Intacct with each line.
Pulsify connects to Sage Intacct. We set up the connection for you.
What Pulsify does not do here
- Pulsify does not split lines by percentage.
- Job reports are run in Sage Intacct.
Common mistakes
- Posting bills without the project on each line.
- Expecting task level cost reports without Project Costing.

Common questions
Do I need a Projects subscription?
Not to tag bills. Basic Project Tracking is the Project dimension and tags bills with a project ID for reporting. Tasks and full project costs need the Project Costing application. Cost types are part of Construction.
Where do I put the project on a bill?
On each bill line, as the project dimension. Turn on Project under General Ledger > Setup > Configuration > Dimension Settings and create the project with a project ID first.
Is this fully confirmed?
Only in part.
Can Pulsify split by percentage?
No. Enter separate lines with set amounts.
